Teachings Based on ACIM

How to Respond to a call for Love.

To heal is to change your perceptions about how you see the world. Perceptions are your interpretations of what you see: the analysis of a situation. You respond to your interpretations as if they were real. If you believe that your interpretations are true (real) you give power to the error and you will overlook the truth.

In response to perceived attack:

  1. Know that your perceptions of being attacked are wrong.

  2. You cannot correct a situation by perceiving attack and then changing behavior. It creates internal conflict between emotions and behavior.

  3. The motivation for attack is an appeal for healing and help, regardless of the form it takes.

  4. It is natural to respond to a call for help with help, unless you have denied the reality of Love.

  5. Only appreciation is due your brother, for both his loving thoughts and his appeals for help, because both are capable of bringing love into your awareness if you perceive them truly.

  6. Do not attempt to help a brother in your own way for you cannot help yourself.

  7. Hear instead the answer you want from God.

Translating Fear into Truth.

  1. To recognize fear is not to escape from it.

  2. Recognition of fear is necessary to demonstrate the need for escape from fear.

  3. Recognize fear and face it without disguise. Fear is an appeal for help. (This is what recognizing fear means).

  4. Only attack produces fear. If attack is a call for help there is no reality in fear. It is a result of the denial of truth.

Fear is a symptom (an effect) of loss of truth, if you learn to supply the loss, the basic cause of fear is removed.

  5. Fear can reveal the underlying belief that needs healing, It is an appeal for love.
