Teachings Based on ACIM
Releasing the Past
What it is:
- Letting go of thinking about something
from the past.
- Not holding onto a thought, a situation,
a person, a place, a possession or a mistake.
The way release works:.
- It frees the future.
- Release undoes the past in the present
and thus releases the future.
- It makes space in our thinking for new,
beautiful and creative thoughts.
What it does:
- Release bring freedom, lightness and joy.
- It opens the heart and mind.
- Creates new possibilities.
- Relaxes mind and body.
- Heals the body by letting new energetic
thoughts cleanse the system.
- It rejuvenates, revitlises and restores
peace of mind.
- Reveals beauty in terms of personality
and charisma.
How to achieve it:
- ACIM lessons.
- Joining in agreement.
- Prayer as in asking Holy Spirit to help.
- A written affirmation for daily practice.
- Writing down on paper and burning.
- Talk about it by explaining to friends
and fellow students. "I am releasing this........" (For a
while it may be wise to say "I am releasing" rather than "I
have released".)
THE HEALING PROCESS
Step 1:Recognition
- Recognising what the past is symbolised
by in our lives.
- Looking directly at the situation/ relationship
that is causing pain and possibly disguised as potential happiness.
Step 2: Identification.
- Identifying the thought that is preoccupying
us. This may be a need or an unfulfilled lack. this can be disguised
as a grievance or a projection.
Step 3: Realisation.
- This thought can be changed for a better
one - a miracle.
- Changing this thought opens up to a wonderful
opportunity for good.
Step 4: Release.
- Let the old thought go, by decision.
- Surrender it to the Holy Spirit. (See
page 90 of text.)
- Feel a sense of releif.
Lessons to work with:
- Lesson 8. My mind is preoccupied
with past thoughts.
- Lesson 10. My thoughts do not mean
anything.
- Lesson 132. I loose the world from
all I thought it was.
- Lesson 227. This is my holy instant
of release.
